A project inspired by the archetypal figure of the bard: musician, poet and voyager.
Delving deeper into my fascination with the bardic identity, it explores my own modern storytelling practice in the context of diverse island traditions. Investigating song, story and relationship to place through the documentation of live performances in locations that challenge the usual conventions of performance spaces: entering into a dialogue with the landscape that might just reveal something of the genius loci, or spirit of place.
When I'm lonely, when I'm far away,
I remember hills of home.
In my boat without anchor,
across the seas I'll roam.
Far across the briny ocean,
where the meadows are so green.
But my heart belongs to you my love,
Over all the lands I've seen.
